Do You Have Sensitive Teeth?
If
you or one of your family members have sensitivity to cold foods or

or simply sensitivity when you even breathe in cold air, then we can
help. Dr. Tishler has been frustrated about dentistry's inability to
adequately treat sensitive teeth.
He has searched for the answer for

Your Teeth on TV, Up Close and
Personal
On TV,
you've probably heard of the little camera that is placed in your mouth
to take video pictures of your teeth and gums. But did you know that the
videocam is not just for YOU to see? If you are already a patient of
ours, you've probably been amazed to see you teeth up close and personal
on a TV monitor. But did you know that this new technology actually
helps Dr. Tishler do an even better job of checking your teeth? It can
magnify the inside of the mouth more than 40 times. Not only can we
educate you about your own mouth using this, but it actually helps Dr.
Tishler see any problems sooner. Isn't that what a dental check-up is
all about? Finding problems when they're small - before they become
major problems? Call our office now at 847-205-9337 for an
appointment.

Routine Cleaning
Regular
cleaning and Fluoride treatment removes and prevents the build-up of
tartar and plaque, and polishes your teeth to make them smooth and
radiant, and it may also help you to avoid gingivitis. You should have a
routine check-up and cleaning at least twice a year.
Comprehensive Exams
The best way
to correct most dental problems is to avoid them to begin with.
Treatment by our expert staff means you'll receive the most thorough
exam possible. We'll check for for problems such as cavities, chipped
teeth or broken teeth, missing teeth, gum disease, oral cancer, TMJ
problems, loose crowns and fillings.
ViziLite Plus
In
our continuing efforts to provide the most advanced technology and
highest standard of care available to our patients, this practice is
proud to announce the inclusion of the ViziLiteÒ
Plus exams as an integral part of our annual comprehensive oral
screening program.
One person dies every hour from oral cancer in the United States
– and the mortality rate has remained unchanged for more than 40 years.
Late detection of oral cancer is the primary cause that both the
incidence and mortality rates of oral cancer continue to increase. As
with most other cancers, age is the primary risk factor for oral cancer.
Though tobacco use is a major predisposing risk factor, 27% of oral
cancer victims have no lifestyle risk factors. According to the
American Cancer Society, more women in the United States will be
diagnosed with oral cancer this year (12,000 cases) than will be
diagnosed with cervical cancer (< 10,000 cases), and there are as many
cases of oral cancer caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV 16/18), a
sexually transmitted disease, as there are HPV-related cases of cervical
cancer.
Clinical studies have determined that using ViziLite Plus after the
standard oral cancer examination improves the dental professional’s
ability to identify and evaluate suspicious areas at their earliest
stages. Early detection of pre-cancerous tissue can minimize or
eliminate the potentially disfiguring effects of oral cancer and
possibly save your life. Proven screening technologies such as
mammogram, Pap smear, PSA and colonoscopy offer the same type of early
detection of cancer. ViziLite Plus is an easy and painless examination
that gives this practice the best chance to find any oral abnormalities
you may have at the earliest possible stage.

Laser Cavity Detection -
Unbelievable!
Have you ever gone
to the dentist and had him find a cavity that he didn't see just six months before, yet when the filling was placed it
was very large? Have you wondered why the filling was so large when the
cavity wasn't even present just six months before? The fact is that the
cavity was there for quite some time.
The dentist just couldn't see it,
and the cavity wasn't big enough to show on the x-rays. By the time the
dentist knew it was there, the cavity was already large. The greatest
advance in dental diagnostics since the x-ray, the Laser Scanner can
detect new cavities years before any other means of cavity detection.
Dr. Tishler has lectured about this device to other dentists. It shines
a harmless laser beam into the tooth. If tooth decay is present, even in
very small amounts, it will be reflected back at the sensor in the
laser. The result? Small cavities are found much earlier, so no more big
fillings! Don't you wish we'd had this when YOU were a child?
Do Your Children's Sealants Keep
Falling Out?
We
sometimes see new patients and find that they have had sealants that have
fallen out. Sealants,
properly applied, can be incredible in preventing cavities. In fact,
MOST cavities occur in areas that could have been sealed.
Dr. Tishler
uses a special technique that more thoroughly cleans out the natural
grooves of the teeth and enhances the 'bond' of the sealant to the
teeth. We almost never see sealants come out. Call our office
today at 847-205-9337 to schedule an appointment.
